Uterine Cancer
Symptoms & Treatment Overview
Uterine cancer starts in the uterus, the organ where a baby grows during pregnancy. This cancer is most common in women after menopause, but it can happen earlier. Some early signs include unusual bleeding or discharge, especially bleeding after menopause. Other symptoms might be pelvic pain or feeling a mass in the abdomen. If you notice unusual bleeding, it’s important to talk to a doctor, as this is often the first sign. Treatment typically involves surgery to remove the uterus (hysterectomy) and sometimes nearby tissues. Depending on the cancer's stage, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or hormone therapy may also be used to target any remaining cancer cells. Early detection and treatment greatly improve outcomes, so regular check-ups are essential.
